Writing FAQ

Welcome to Writing! We're glad you're here. The following information is relevant primarily within this community. If you have a question that applies to the entire Codidact family of communities, you may want to look at our Global FAQ or Global TOS.

What is Writing all about?

Writing is our site about the craft of professional writing, editing, and publishing, everything from planning to technique to style to genre to getting your work in front of readers. Questions about all types of writing are welcome -- fiction, technical documentation, scholarly articles, poetry, scriptwriting, blogs, and more.

Who are the moderators?

Your moderators are:

What are the different categories for?

  • Q&A is for questions about the site's topics and their answers
  • Challenges is for writing challenges that are posted from time to time. These are just for fun and to exercise your creativity.
  • Meta is for questions about the site itself, rather than questions about writing.

What open-source license are posts on Writing created under?

All posts are created under CC BY-SA 4.0 by default except for posts in the Challenges category which fall under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. If desired, you can also choose a different license on a per-post basis, but only when initially creating the post. The license cannot be changed after the post is first saved.
