How can I write introspective poetry that avoids sounding overly self-indulgent?

I've been experimenting with introspective poetry lately, exploring themes like solitude, personal growth, and emotional clarity. However, I’m concerned that some of my writing may come across as overly self-absorbed or melodramatic. What are some techniques or stylistic choices that can help maintain emotional authenticity without alienating the reader? Any tips on tone, structure, or examples from poets who balance this well would be greatly appreciated.

I notice that you have added the tag "bug", presumably because it is mandatory to add one of "bug"/"discussion"/"feature-request"/"support". A mandatory tag is needed because the question has been posted in the "Meta" category rather than the "Q&A" category. The "Meta" category is for questions about the site itself:

scope, bug reports, how to use features, policy discussions

Since this question is about writing, it belongs in the "Q&A" category, so I've asked a moderator to move it there for you. Once it's there, you will be able to remove the "bug" tag. There are no mandatory tags in the "Q&A" category.
