There are strong nouns and verbs, that pinpoint given meaning, and there are pretentious ones, that replace common expressions adding very little to the meaning but sounding smart. **_Really, "She's incredibly beautiful" is better than "She's pulchritudinous"._** (Emphasis added.) Obviously, this reply doesn't go into detail there - because it wasn't the question asked. But, are there actually places where adverbs shine? Can they be used effectively, or are there certain effects that they are especially good at?
