Unless someone personally knows these authors or there are published accounts of them explaining why they wrote long sentences, any answer would be pure speculation. For example, in the absence of the above, how could anyone judge the correctness of answers like <i>"He likes long sentences"</i>, <i>"He had a bad day"</i>, or <i>"He thinks readers need to work to find the meaning so that they are more engaged"</i>?
