I found a post on [https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/](https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=28852)[smash karts](https://smashkartsio.com)[viewtopic.php?t=28852](https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=28852) that suggests using the non-breaking space character (CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE) instead of the non-breaking space key binding to avoid the issue. Another post on the same forum suggests that you can specify hyphenation rules on a style to prevent Flare from inserting non-breaking spaces. You can edit the properties of the style, choose the Hyphenation tab, and switch off hyphenation altogether for that style (Never).
