I'm close to ending my first draft, literally being to the last or second-to-last chapter. I'm suffering from a strange form of writer's block, though, since I can't seem to come up with a satisfying ending scene. I know what has to happen plot-wise, I just have trouble put it into a compelling chapter. Considering that I will need a serious second draft, I'm considering the idea of starting editing and "fixing" the story start-to-finish. This should, ideally, give me a stronger grasp on what themes work and how my ending scene should be. On the other hand, my desire to proceed to the second draft may be dictated only by the fact that writing that chapter is really difficult and I'd rather switch to a less intensive task. So, generally speaking, ## can one start the second draft when the first lacks a proper ending?
