I currently work for an engineering company as an electrical engineer. A good chunk of my time is spent writing testing reports or instruction documents. Currently my company doesn't have any sort of guidelines specifying how to format documents, and everyone seems to do it a different way. I considered buying the Chicago Style Manual because it is suggested by the IEEE (a prominent electronics organization). This is a massive book at nearly 1,000 pages. Does anybody here have any input whether reading through a manual like this is a worthy expenditure of time for someone in a field like mine?
