Answer A: Is excerpts from an in-universe book, presented between chapters, a good way of handling exposition?
Different readers like different things. There are quite a few books that give worldbuilding background before chapters, in tales told over the campfire, in documents that the characters read, or elsewhere. As books get published that way, I guess that there must be readers who like to read plot-free...

Answer A: How to describe a female character's figure without comedy?
Three things: 1. Let the viewpoint character look at her. 2. Sometimes telling is better than showing. 3. Number two were two things: effortlessness of reading and facilitation of identification.
